Biomechanics is the study of the structure and function of the entire musculoskeletal system.
Pains are often a result of abnormalities in the structure and alignment of bones and this can therefore result in abnormal functioning of the surrounding muscles and joints. This poor functioning of the musculoskeletal system can lead to a variety of conditions that affect any bone, joint, ligament, tendon or muscle. Biomechanical assessments are therefore vital, not only in diagnosing the cause of an existing pain but preventing pains/injuries from occurring by detecting an abnormality and treating it before it affects an individual's function.
